Mosquito Bucket of Doom

Setup & Maintenance Instructions

What This Does

The Mosquito Bucket of Doom targets egg-laying female mosquitoes and eliminates larvae before they become biting adults.

Both treatment options use:
Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis)
• Kills mosquito larvae only
• Harmless to bees, pets, wildlife, and plants
• EPA-approved for standing water

This system breaks the mosquito life cycle at the breeding stage.

Placement Instructions

  1. Place bucket in shaded or partially shaded area

  2. Position 30–50 feet away from patios, doors, and seating areas

  3. Set near shrubs, fence lines, or damp/low areas

  4. Keep on level ground

  5. Do not block vent openings

For larger yards, use multiple buckets.

Fill Instructions

  1. Fill bucket with water to just below the vent holes

  2. Do not overfill

  3. Rainwater works great

  4. Maintain consistent water level

Treatment Options

You may use:

  • Mosquito Bits

  • Mosquito Dunks

  • OR both together (recommended for fastest + longest control)

Both contain the same active ingredient (Bti). The difference is release speed.

OPTION 1: Mosquito Bits (Fast Acting)

Best for immediate activation

Initial Setup:

  1. Add 1–2 tablespoons directly into water

  2. No stirring required

How It Works:

  • Begins working immediately

  • Kills larvae quickly

  • Breaks down faster than dunks

Maintenance:

  • Reapply every 7–14 days

  • Reapply after heavy rain

  • Reapply if bucket dries out

OPTION 2: Mosquito Dunks (Slow Release)

Best for long-lasting control

Initial Setup:

  1. Break dunk into ¼ or ½ sections

  2. Place directly in water

How It Works:

  • Takes time to begin releasing at full strength

  • Provides up to 30 days of continuous treatment

  • Ideal for low-maintenance setups

Maintenance:

  • Replace every 30 days

  • Replace if fully dissolved

BEST PRACTICE: Use Both Together

For maximum effectiveness:

  1. Add Mosquito Bits for immediate control

  2. Add a partial Dunk for long-term sustained release

Why this works:

  • Bits start killing larvae right away

  • Dunks maintain steady protection over time

  • Together they provide both rapid knockdown and extended control

This is the most effective setup.
