Why it works
Uses thermal heat and BG-Sweetscent scent attractant to mimic a warm-blooded host. No tank, no regulator, no monthly CO₂ cost or logistics. Plug it in and it runs.
Scientifically validated specifically for tiger mosquitoes (Aedes albopictus) and yellow fever mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti), the two species responsible for most daytime biting and DENV/Zika transmission risk in Austin.
Ideal for garages, screened porches, covered patios, pergolas, and carports where CO₂ would disperse too quickly to be effective. Works anywhere airflow is limited enough to concentrate the attractant plume.
In controlled field trials, the BG-Mosquitaire without CO₂ reduced tiger mosquito bites by 87%. Peer-reviewed results, not marketing claims.
If you later want CO₂ capability, the BG-Booster CO₂ Upgrade Set ($119) converts this trap to full CO₂ operation without replacing the unit.

Frequently asked
Why would I choose this over the CO₂ model? +
If your problem is primarily indoors or in a sheltered outdoor space (covered patio, screened porch, garage), the non-CO₂ model is the better choice. CO₂ disperses quickly in open air, reducing effectiveness. In enclosed spaces, heat and scent concentration is sufficient.
Does it target the same mosquitoes as the CO₂ model? +
The non-CO₂ model is optimized for Aedes species (tiger and yellow fever mosquitoes), the daytime-active biters most common in Austin. The CO₂ model targets all species including Culex (nighttime biters). If you have both problems, consider one of each.
Can I upgrade it to use CO₂ later? +
Yes. The BG-Booster CO₂ Upgrade Set ($119) includes a regulator, CO₂ nozzle, and 16-ft tube. It converts this trap to full CO₂ operation without needing to purchase a new trap unit.
How often do I replace the attractant? +
Each BG-Sweetscent pack lasts up to 2 months. Replacement packs are approximately $19/each or available in 3- and 6-pack bundles from GreenGuard USA or directly from Biogents.
